Week Six

Storyboards

The following is a storyboard for a 10 minute instructional video/book report. The only learning objective is to understand the subject matter written by someone very knowledgeable about both disability and higher education.

REFLECTION

I made a book review/presentation for this assignment. This book (Academic Abelism) is an important influence on me and thus the creation of my larger project TLDR.school.  So many students with acknowledged or unacknowledged disabilities encounter far too many hurdles to complete their degree, and it’s helpful for them to know the deck is stacked against them for one simple reason, colleges struggle to accommodate them (among many other reasons), and exclude them from community.

I figured it would be prudent to review the book and provide choice and insightful quotes from this important text.

The truth is, I hate storyboarding. I am a bigger fan of rapid instructional design and prototyping than any other development method. It’s almost as if I need to see it for myself before I believe I’m creating it.

Luckily, I already had a PowerPoint storyboard template that only needed slight modification and to input the specifics of this presentation, I made the storyboard while simultaneously developing the lesson (which worked out well as this exercise was a great opportunity to learn more about a new software I’m using Articulate Storyline). This was very time-consuming as I had to watch Tutorials.
